British Championships For 10/11 Years 2011 – Results
On Sunday 9 October Nottinghamshire Judo hosted the 2011 British Championships for 10/11 year olds at the Harvey Hadden Sports Centre. The event saw 140 competitors representing 68 clubs from throughout the UK competing for the title of British Champion.
We had two of our students entered into this National event, Ethan Ward in the -34kg and Jack Hopewell in the -38kg.
Ethan was up first in a group of 18 competitors and unfortunately he lost his first two contests against some strong opposition and was eliminated from the event.
Jack was next in a group of 19 competitors; Jack like Ethan lost his first contest and was moved to the repechage, Jack then won his next contest with a waza-ari score seeing him safely through to the next round. Jack then lost his third fight and was eliminated from the event.
Both of the boys fought really well in this high standard event and hopefully they will now look to winning a medal at the same event in 2012.
We would also like to thank the following parents and volunteers at the club that gave up their time to help at this event without whom this event would never have been possible.
Chris and Michelle Riley, William Humphreys, Adam Howard, Murray Hopewell, Chloe Keeton and Arunas Beliukevicius.
