Brothers Qualify for 2010 British Championships
On Sunday 19 September Conor and William Humphreys attended the Midland Area trials to attempt to secure a place at the 2010 British Championships.
Currently anyone wanting to compete at the British Championships must qualify through their area trials by finishing in the top four of their respective weight category.
The British Championships is the most prestigious event of the year with the top fighters from each Area of England and the three home countries (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) competiting against each other to try and gain the title of British Champion. The event is also used as part of the selection process for the following years’ England Squads.
Conor was first to fight, moving up to a new weight category Pre-Cadets u46kg and finished in second place earning his place at the British Championships.
William also moved to a new category, he was now in the Junior Men u66kg which now makes him the youngest in his age band competing with players up to the age of 18 years. William had two of the best players in England in his group and he finished in third place also earning a coveted place at the British Championships.
