Nottingham Closed 2013 – Results
On Sunday 7 July Nottinghamshire staged the annual Nottinghamshire Closed competition at the Brocklehigh Sports Centre. This event is for Nottinghamshire based players and players that train at clubs located within Nottinghamshire.
Eight students represented our club at this event Rebecca McQuone, Kyra Pidduck-Bedulskis, Taylor Smith, Peter Harcsa-Pinter, Ethan Ward, Brandon Allsebrook and Jack Hopewell.
Peter was in the Red Belt -30kg category in a pool of four. Peter won his first contest with an Ippon throw in a speedy 4 seconds; he then lost his second contest but came back in the third to win by another Ippon throw, securing second place and a Silver medal.
Taylor was in the Boys Yellow Belt -30kg in a pool of three, Taylor took the first win by Ippon throw but then lost out in his second match, earning Taylor also a second place and Silver medal.
Rebecca like Taylor was in a pool of three in the Red Belt +52kg category, Rebecca lost her first contest but then won her second by Ippon throw to take the Silver medal.
Yellow belt Kyra was in the -36kg category and had two contests against girls of the same weight, Kyra won both contests comfortably with Ippon throws securing Kyra first position and a Gold medal.
Ethan and Brandon’s groups were combined so each group had a few fights. Ethan took Gold in the -38kg and Brandon Bronze in the -42kg.
Jack’s group -50kg was also combined with the +50kg – Jack secured the win against his main opponent and like Ethan before him secured first place and a Gold medal.
This was a great event and an ideal first competition for any of our players as it was grade banded and only clubs from the Nottinghamshire area were permitted to enter. Hopefully we will see more of our students enter this event next year.
