Nottingham Mini-Mon and Senior Kyu 2013 – Results

  • 2nd September 2013

On Sunday 1 September Nottinghamshire Judo hosted the Nottingham Mini-Mon and Senior Kyu Open at the Ellis Guilford Sports Centre in Nottingham.

This event was split into two sections one section for junior players aged 8-14 and graded Novice – Yellow+3 and the second section for senior players aged 14+ and graded 1st Kyu or below.

We had five entries into this event Dylan, Connor and Ellie Tait, Kyra Pidduck-Bedulskis and Taylor Smith all in the junior section.

Dylan in the u27kg won one of his four contests which was enough to secure a Bronze medal.

Connor was placed with 7 opponents in the -34kg category he bulldozed through his first pool contests winning all three by 10 point wins of Ippon throws and holds. He then progressed to the semi-final which he won by Ippon throw in 39 seconds, the final was even quicker with Connor dispatching his opponent for Ippon in a quick 20 seconds and earning him a first place Gold. Taylor was also in this category however he did not make it to the second round or a medal position.

Now it was time for the girls Ellie in the -25kg and Kyra 36kg. Ellie only had one opponent that she beat twice in a best of three contests and took the Gold. Kyra was in a pool of five and was unfortunate not to win a contest and therefore did not finish in a medal place.

All of our players fought really well and we are really pleased with the way they acted throughout whether winning or losing and still showing great sportsmanship, they are a credit to our club.
