Nottingham Red Belt Rumble Results

  • 19th March 2012

Red Belt March 2012On Sunday 18 March Nottinghamshire Judo held a Red Belt Rumble competition at the Bilborough Sports Centre. Over 140 competitors representing 30 clubs took part many of which it was their first experience of competitive judo.

We had two students representing our club at the event, brother and sister duo Connor and Ellie Tait.

Ellie was up first in the lightest Girls category, like the majority of the groups on the day Ellie was in a pool of four along with three other competitors. Ellie lost both of her first two contests, however in her third and final contest Ellie beat her opponent by Ippon, earning Ellie a third place and Bronze medal.

Connor was in the Group 6 Boys again with three other competitors. Connor won all of his contests by Ippon the first in 18 seconds and the third in only 10 seconds. This fantastic feat earned Connor first place and a Gold medal.

This was an ideal event for any player who has not yet competed or has only fought in a couple of competitions before and we hope that many more of our new students will follow Connor and Ellie’s lead and enter one of the next Red Belt Rumbles that are held in Nottingham.
