Red Belt Rumble II 2013 – Results

  • 14th October 2013

Red Belt Rumble 2013On Sunday 13 October Ace Crawley, Peter Harcsa-Pinter and Rebecca McQuone represented our club at the second Red Belt event of the year run by Nottinghamshire Judo.

As this was a Red Belt Rumble all of the competitors were split into groups of four where possible giving each competitor at least three contests.

Peter was the lightest of our three players and was in the u28kg category; Peter won his first two contests by Ippon throws which normally would mean that he would now need to win the third for Gold. However Peter lost the third contest and still took Gold as the final result meant the pool had finished in a three way tie, and normally the three tied players would have to refight but as this was a Red Belt event ties were decided by the weight of the players and Peter was the lightest and was awarded 1st Place.

Ace was in the next weight group up the u29kg and he won his first contest by Ippon and then lost his second, he would now have to win his final contest to secure a Silver medal, in his final match he beat his opponent by Ippon and secured 2nd Place.

Rebecca was the last of our players to compete in the u65kg, this was a pool of three and Rebecca needed to win two contests for 1st Place. Rebecca lost her first contest but then pulled it back in the second with an Ippon in 9 seconds gaining her a Silver medal.

We would like to see more of our lower grades entering these events as they are ideal starting point for the competition pathway, look out on the club noticeboard and in the club newsletters for events coming up in 2014.
