Silver for Jack at the West of England Open

On Sunday 27 July Connor Tait and Jack Hopewell travelled to Swindon to represent our club at the West of England Open.

Connor competed in the Boys Band A -30kg category along with 11 opponents, in the first round contest Connor threw his opponent for Ippon he then lost his next contest which put him into the repechage. Connor won his first repechage match throwing his opponent for Ippon in only 6 seconds but then lost the next match which eliminated him from the event and finishing the event in a credible 7th place.

Jack was in the Band A -50kg category which was a pool of five. Jack took the first match in 20 seconds with an Ippon throw, like Connor before him he then lost his second contest. Jack battled back to proceeded to win his remaining two contests the first with two Waza-ari throws and the second by a Yuko score. This secured Jack second place overall and a Silver medal.
