Chloe Wins Gold Volunteering Award
On Saturday 10 November club coach Paul and his daughter Chloe attended the British Judo Awards evening in which they were both nominated for volunteering awards.
The annual awards are held to recognise both Elite Players and Judo Volunteers for their success and contributions to Judo throughout the year.
Paul and Chloe were nominated along with five other volunteers from Nottinghamshire who were also attending all of which were supported by their friends and family on the night.
To progress through to the awards evening 100’s of nominations were whittled down by a panel to leave only the top four in each category, once the top four were decided there was an online voting system opened up for the nominees to gain as many votes as they could to decide the final places.
Chloe was nominated for Junior Volunteer of the Year and Paul for Volunteer of the Year.
It was a great evening with Nottingham doing brilliantly taking Gold in the majority of categories where they were nominated, one of those top Gold awards went to Chloe who spends a lot of her spare time with Paul organising, setting up and running the Nottinghamshire events.
Paul finished third in his category receiving a Bronze award and said after receiving his award:
“This has been a fantastic night, not only has by daughter taken the top award which I am very proud of, all the volunteers in Nottingham have done extremely well and Jason and I are proud and thankfull of the commitment and work they have all put in.”
“The bronze award for me is great but my real reward is seeing all of these young volunteers in Nottinghamshire get the recognition they deserve.”
During the evening the nominees were treated to a four course dinner and had the opportunity to meet their Judo idols and have photos taken with them, their medals and other Olympic memorabilia.
