Nottingham Mini-Mon and Senior Kyu 2011 – Results
On Sunday 25 September five of our students took part in the Nottinghamshire Mini-Mon and Senior Kyu Grade Competition that was held at the Nottingham University Samworth Academy, Nottingham.
Over 100 players attended representing 27 clubs throughout the UK.
Wiktor Gojtka was our first fighter up in the -30kg category; Wiktor won his first contest with an Ippon throw which put him in the semi-final, however he then lost his next two contests putting him in 5th place overall.
Next up was Ethan Ward in the -34kg category; Ethan won his first contests and then like Wiktor before him lost the next two contests and was eliminated from the competition.
Brandon Allsebrook was next to the mat in the -38kg category; Brandon won his first contest and then during his second contest he received an injury to his arm forcing him to withdraw from the event. However his first win was enough to secure a bronze medal.
Brandon’s injury turned out to be quite severe and he had to have an operation to repair the damage. We send our best wishes and a speedy recovery from everyone at the club.
Our final two competitors of the Day were William Humphreys and Arunas Beliukevicius they were both competition in the senior men -73kg category.
Both of the young men won their first three contests all by Ippon techniques placing them against each other in the final. In the final it was Arunas who was the eventual winner throwing William for Ippon in his trademark technique drop seoi-nage. Both boys also gained some well earned points towards their black belt.
All five students fought really well even though they did not all make a medal position, listed below are their results:
| Arunas Beliukevicius | Gold |
| William Humphreys | Silver |
| Brandon Allsebrook | Bronze |
