Nottingham Mini-Mon 2014On Sunday 14 September Peter Harcsa-Pinter represented our club at the Nottingham Mini-Mon Open that was held at the Ellis Guilford School.

Peter was drawn along with 11 other competitors in a knockout system with repechage. This would mean that Peter would ned to win all his contests in the early rounds to make the final and if he lost two contests on the way to the final he would be eliminated from the event.

Peter started well taking a win in the first contest with an Ippon throw, and then the form continued in a close fought contest with Peter edging the win with Waza-ari throw. He was now in the semi-final and this contest went the full length with Peter’s opponent eventually taking the win with an Ippon hold. Peter would now fight for bronze and battled back undeterred by his previous loss and threw his opponent for Waza-ari and then held for Ippon, securing third place and a bronze medal.

Peter has only recently gained his yellow belt and this was a great display at his first event of this level.
